Stockbridge Middle School has been identified as a Targeted Assistance (TA) Title I school, as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA).

Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students.

Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parental involvement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with Title I parents a written parental involvement policy and school-parent compact.

Please note as a Title I school we send communication to Title I parents in a variety of ways. You have multiple opportunities to be aware of events at school. (Monthly School Calendar, Remind 101, SMS Website, Individual Flyers, Student Agendas, Calling Post).

All documents are available in other languages upon request.

Parent Involvement

My name is Dr. Lateasha White and I am pleased to serve as the Title I Parent Involvement Liaison here at SMS! I was born and raised in Virginia and moved to the Atlanta area 8 years ago. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Hampton University and M.A. in Counseling from Norfolk State University. I have a background in social services and recently completed my Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology prior to arriving at SMS. In my free time I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

The purpose of parental involvement under Title I is to promote active engagement between school administrators, teachers, and parents. My job is to encourage our Title I parents to become involved in the success of their students. In this section of our website, you will find helpful tips for getting involved, information about our Parent Resource Center, and other information to help get you involved in your child’s success. Please stop by to see me in the PRC in Rm #708 during your next school visit. I look forward to working with all of SMS Title I parents!

Mi nombre es Dr. Lateasha White y me complace lo padres participación enlace aquí en SMS servir como el título! Yo nació y creció en Virginia y se trasladó a la zona de Atlanta hace ocho años. Our new Parent Resource Center (PRC) is just for you!

The Parent Resource Center is filled with all types of books and resources aimed to assist you as you engage in your child’s education. Along with instructional books and workbooks for all grade levels, the PRC will also include information on community resources, parenting, self-help, and more. In addition to books, we have tons of activities, games and manipulatives that you can check out and use at home with your kids.

Next time you are at SMS having lunch or picking up your child, stop by the Parent Resource Center located on the 7th grade hall in Room #708.

Nuestro nuevo centro de recursos de los padres es sólo para ti!

El centro de recursos para padres está llena de todo tipo de libros y recursos dirigidos a ayudarle como usted participar en la educación de su hijo. Junto a libros de instrucción y los libros para todos los grados, el PRC también incluirá información sobre los recursos comunitarios, crianza, autoayuda y mucho más. Además de libros, tenemos muchas actividades, juegos y manipuladores que puede ver y usar en casa con sus hijos.

The PRC was specially-designed for parents as a place to:

receive free informational brochures about education, child development, parenting, and community resources;

to borrow books with tapes to read/listen with your child;

to attend free parent workshops on topics of relevance to enhance your child's learning;

to attend free community workshops on interesting and helpful topics,

to network with other parents



to check out resources to use with your children at home.
